Band students may audition for one of three jazz groups at Hoover: First Edition, Hoover Jam, and JB3.

Jazz band requires an additional class period. The jazz bands perform winter and spring concerts, as well as at various events throughout the year.

First Edition, under the direction of Sallie Vines White, is Hoover’s top jazz ensemble, and was invited to perform at the Midwest Clinic in Chicago in 2023. This group has served as unofficial ambassadors of the Hoover Band for decades, performing at venues around the community.
